As you may expect we're taking emerging from lock down carefully and following the advice and rules of The Scout Association. Scouting will be returning to normal via 3 steps, we're currently at step 1 and considering what we need to do for step 2.

We Can't wait to see you again and welcome you back.

Step 1 - Outdoor activities in small groups

In this first step towards normal we'll be supplementing what we've been doing during lock down with some face to face activities outside (we can't wait either!). Without access to the hut we're going to be meeting mainly in parks, so make sure you bring your own drink and go to the loo beforehand. We'll also be running meetings of varying durations and not necessarily at the usual times.

You'll turn up during your small window of time and start by sanitising your hands and getting ready for what ever fun activity the leader's planned to kick things off with. Pick up will also be during a small window of time so that we can avoid everyone coming/going at the same time, you'll also be sanitising your hands before you go. We'll be social distancing and not sharing anything we touch with hands to keep everyone safe so the games may be a little strange to begin with but you'll soon get used to them. Since we'll be meeting outside and it is Aberdeen the weather may mean that an activity simply can't happen when planned, so be prepared for the programme to be a little more flexible than normal.

After we've dotted the is and crossed the ts in the risk assessments and purchased what we need your section's leader will be in touch to tell you all the fun thing's you'll be able to get up to, so look out for the email and remember to check the sections' Facebook group and Twitters. The risk assessments will be available at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-Q-12COxR8jRutPLWalEbnognZwpGJbL once they've been approved, should you want to see how we'll be keeping everyone safe.

Remember here's what an activity will look like:

  1. Use toilet and wash hands at home

  2. Travel to Beavers/Cubs/Scouts to arrive at your designated time. Remember to bring a full water bottle and wear clothing and shoes appropriate to what you're getting up to.

  3. Sanitise your hands and follow the leader's instructions.

  4. Have some fun!

  5. When your parent arrives to collect you, sanitise your hands and wait for the leader to say to go

  6. Get home, wash your hands and water bottle.

Also remember that people with Covid symptoms or who have been in contact with anyone that tested positive for Covid within the previous 2 weeks, must not come to any face-to-face activities.

Step 2 - Activities in small groups (indoor & outdoor)

In this second step towards normal we'll be able to meet inside again, this gives us some wet weather options and opens up a wider range of activities we can get back to. All the precautions from step 1 are likely to remain in place and be extended as we start to use the hut for meetings again.

Again once we've dotted the is and crossed the ts in the risk assessments and purchased what we need your section's leader will be in touch to tell you all the fun thing's you'll be able to get up to, so look out for the email and remember to check the sections' Facebook group and Twitters. The risk assessments will be available at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10BRUzrO1Bb6LLUm9ZkKXGa9pjhvWf2nc once they've been approved, should you want to see how we'll be keeping everyone safe.

Step 3 - All activities (but inline with government guidance)

In this third step towards normal we should be almost as we were at the end of 2019. Most of the precautions are likely to still be in place and have become habit.

Again once we've dotted the is and crossed the ts in the risk assessments and purchased what we need your section's leader will be in touch to tell you all the fun thing's you'll be able to get up to, so look out for the email and remember to check the sections' Facebook group and Twitters.
